Fifth Session
Den of Kalzor

Returning to Juuda, the party finds themselves with some downtime.

Corkle is told via a letter from the Order of the Monolith headquarters that he should remain based in Juuda for a time. Lacking other adventure to follow, Corkle spent the time working with Xavier, running a few odd errands and learning lessons about magic. After his month of study, he found that he had memorized quite a few spells and successfully tapped into some of the sources of magic in Juuda, learning the secrets of the arcane trickster.

Zagros is summoned to the Academy, meeting The Academy Council. There, he tells the council of the world of Faerun, the weave, and Mystra. The council is intrigued by his stories an magical theories, further intrigued by his weave based magic continuing to function, and outright astonished as his spellcasting seems to will the weave into existence. Wanting to study further, they give Zagros access to a lab, where his magical experiments could be observed by council members. In this experimentation, Zagros was able to learn and master some 2nd level spells over the course of the month.

Nimriel continued to meet with her new friend Jeke Moonflower. Jeke and Nimriel continued to share their philosophies with each other, and they both taught each other a bit of their respective arts. Nimriel made great strides, eventually learning from Jeke enough to tap into the Monk abilities through her meditation and training. Jeke seemed hesitant to teach her further, but relented in seeing how confident Nimriel was becoming with herself. After the month was over, Nimriel had started to learn the path of the Monk.

Frederick found himself without much to do. Wandering the streets of Juuda, he eventually stumbled upon a conflict. A group of mercenaries was at odds with a group of Rune Knights. Siding with the Knights, Frederick was able to intimidate the mercs away from combat. Frederick made quick friends with the knights that he helped, and spent some of his time training and sparring with them. In his practice, he was able to realize the abilities of his people, staring down the path of a Champion.

The group reconvened after this month of training when Zagros was called to complete a task for the council. To initiate himself as a member of the Academy, he would complete a minor apprenticeship task. He simply needed to meet with a Dwarven enchanter at his secluded tower and help him with an enchantment. Deciding to take the group along for safety on the wild path, Zagros and the party traveled the path to the tower.

They found the tower to not be inhabited by the lone Dwarven wizard, but instead by an entire cabal of cultists. With some magical trickery from Zagros and Corkle, they were quickly able to learn from a lone lookout that the cultists worshiped some entity known as Kalzor. Moving inside, they fought off a number of cultists before uncovering that a dark ritual was taking place.

Corkle attempted to disrupt the ritual with some more arcane trickery, but he and the party found themselves in a desperate struggle when the leader spotted him hiding at the stairwell. The ensuing battle was grim, with Corkle and Frederick falling under a flurry of devilish spirits. Zagros was barely able to drop the leader before he could finish his fallen comrades, and attempted to tend to their wounds while Nimriel fought of other coming cultists in bear form. Zagros fumbled with his bandages trying to tend to Frederick’s wounds, and with a sudden splurt of blood from a devilish wound, Frederick went still.

Zagros moved to Corkle to try to bandage him with shaking hands and teary eyes, but was saved from trying to stabilize him by a healing word from Nimriel. With the cultists defeated, the party found themselves staring at the corpse of their comrade. After some grieving, the party resolved to try to return Frederick to the realm of the living, whatever the cost.

Returning to Juuda, they eventually found a mysterious patron willing and able to restore Frederick to life. Desperate, the party quickly paid the figure, and observed a strange magical ritual. In the course of the ritual, Frederick’s body dissolved away into dust, and from the dust a new body was formed. A red body, with orange hair and bright orange eyes. Frederick had been reborn as a Fire Genasi.

Fourth Session
Juuda, and the Giant Ruin

Waiting a day for Zobbathow to gather his things, the party gets their first good look around Juuda.

Their first destination is the Library of Bratoro, a public library just outside of the academy that compiles general knowledge for the public. On the way there, Frederick found and pocketed a mysterious coin sized silver skull…

At the library, the party gathered some knowledge while Zagros went off to petition the academy for magical knowledge. There, he met Mintarn, a slow speaking old Wizard, who arranged for Zagros to learn the magic missile spell, and made a note to the academy council on his otherworldly origin.

From there, the party travelled on to the house of Xavier, a local member of the order of the monolith. He turns in his surviving books as well as the books damaged by water in the bullywug cave. He also tells Xavier of his quest to bring the party back to headquarters.

The party then made for the marketplace, trying to find armor and weapons. There, they encountered a man selling “magical rocks”, including one that seemed a genuine magical item. The party found themselves too low in funds to purchase it, but Frederick bought one of the painted stones out of pity. After a bit of being directed around, they found themselves in Jade Arms talking to the gruff Dwarven owner Dalthrum. She makes business with the party, and even manages to convince Frederick to purchase an adamantium-reinforced maul from her.

With the bustle of the city driving Nimriel to near insanity, she stumbled upon a garden. In the garden center, a Half-Elf monk known as Jeke meditated. NImriel and Jeke spoke, and the two grew friendly as they discussed the nature of a city. Jeke promised to Nimriel to help her find new friends in the mysterious new city, and to learn to harbor her inner power.

With the day done, the party rested, and woke in the morning for a meeting with Zobbathow. They established ground rules, and set off to meet with his associate. In a small farming hamlet near the mountaints, the party met Zallania, Zobbathow’s former student and current partner in artifact recovery. Zallania leads the party to an ancient Giant fort, surrounded by bones and corpses of forest animals.

The party explores the ruins, and discovers it to be the new lair of an owlbear. After a tense fight that brought Nimriel to the brink of death, they slew the beast, and set about trying to recover the collection of magical battle attire the Giants left behind. In the process, they managed to fight another owlbear, the former’s mate returning from the hunt.

In the process of recovering the artifacts, Corkle touched a sword, and learned the effects of Giant enchantment’s magical decay. He became a beacon of restlessness, preventing people around him from getting proper sleep, or recovering naturally from wounds. However, he also did gain some skill in athletics, as well as some magical ability to enhance his speed. The attunement ended up being too harmful to maintain, and so the party brought Zobbathow back to the hamlet to have him remove the curse.

Thus freed from harmful magical effects, and rewarded with the whispering hunger-inducing bag of holding collected from the Giant’s fort, the party makes a return to Juuda to look for further adventure…

Third Session
Shipwreck Cove and the Bullywug King

With Zagros continuing to placate the mind of the enchanted bullywug, the party are able to interrogate him. They learn through his broken common that the bullywugs had been carrying items from the shipwreck back to the cave of the Bullywug king, BbbbbungBONKuhbung, otherwise known as King BungBung to those of smaller mouth and shorter tongue.

With some ‘encouragement’ from Frederick, the bullywug prisoner known as Bomblebung led the party on the path towards the cave, able to guide through the salt-marsh of the area with ease. They party had a few more encounters and scuffles with the Bullywugs, including an ambush by the wugs and their giant frog hunting partners.

They arrived and were able to enter the Bullywug king’s hidden cave after some misadventures that left half of Corkle’s held books as worthless and waterlogged.

Exploring the cave, they eventually stumbled into the throne room of the self-proclaimed king of bullywugs, and were chased and combatted by BungBung’s guards. Defeating the guards soundly, the party returned to the throne room to find the king atop a massive frog mount and flanked by angry sahuagin. The party was able to kill the king, his mount, and his colleagues.

Looting the crates that the bullywug king used as a throne, the party recovered many of the elven treasures lost in the attack, as well as some additional loot from other crashes and of course Corkle’s books.

They party also managed to save an Aquatic elf, Charkin, that was held as a prisoner of the bullywugs. Charkin told the party of his capture by the bullywugs, his careful survival negotiated by inflating the ego of the bullywug king by wallowing, and his timely rescue as the king threatened to give Charkin up to the sahuagin partners that he traded shipwreck goods to. He returned to the ocean with a hearty thank you to the party.

The party returned to Juuda and the Glitterbass inn, where they celebrated their success, distributed loot, and considered their next moves…

Second Session
Arrival in Juuda

The Party sets out…

The party gets a proper conversation with Keyeth, thirdborn to the throne of Eindon. She thanks them for their service to her people, gifting Nimriel with herbs proper to make healing poutlices, Zagros with magical knowledge, Frederick with an ornate longbow, and Corkle with an interview and a tome of Eindonian history. She shares some information with the party, such as her quest to discover the meaning behind her visions and her surprise that the party shared in her divination. She then offers to pay for the adventurers stay in Juuda for a time.

After a few more days traveling along the coast, the party finally find themselves in Juuda. They join Keyeth in checking into the Glitterbass inn, a fancy inn converted from a warehouse in the dock district. The party make their first ventures into the city, shopping a bit and meeting Zobbathow Poodink, the esteemed gnome professor. He offers them work in clearing out Giant ruins and recovering artifacts for him in the future.

The party is relieved to find the Windblade returned to port, though they are concerned when Rinan reports that the pirate ship had struck rock and sunk, and displeased to discover that strange amphibion creatures had stolen aboard and pilfered Corkle’s left behind books.

Hoping to uncover answers among the wreckage of the ship, the party set out along the coast to find the pirate’s crashed ship. Upon coming to the site, they discovered that strange grey frog-people known as bullywugs had been lugging crates away from the crash site. Slaughtering the evil beings on the beach, they proceeded to follow the trail of froggy footprints.

They scuffled and ambushed a few similar groups, culminating in an ambush on a large group of bullywugs led by fishlike humanoids with a vicious mouth full of shark teeth – Sahuagin. The party is able to slaughter all but one of the group, with Zagros spinning a heavy enchantment that keeps the lone surviving bullywug charmed, dazed, and unable to move as the rest of the party surrounds him…

First Session
The Windblade and the Princess of Eindon

The party sets sail…

From the Faewild of the forgotten realms, the wood elf druid Nimriel and the moon elf wizard Zagros find themselves awakening in a strange land. Lost in an unfamiliar wilderness foreign from the Faerunian forests Nimriel called home, they came across a similar lost soul. Frederick, a human fighter from the frosty land of Sossal.

Together, these three found their way into a city, and in discussing their situation met the halfling rogue Corkle, who took an interest in their talk of alternate worlds. He convinced them to join him in traveling to the city of Juuda, where the various magic users could potentially give them some indication of how to return to their home. In return, Corkle asked only for knowledge to contribute to his faction, the Order of the Monolith.

Together, the party traveled aboard the Windblade, an ex-warship captained by a dwarf named Rinan. They traded tales with Rinan, telling the captain of their world and learning a bit of the history of their destination.

Trouble struck shortly after spotting Avas, as they discovered a royal elven ship from Eindon under attack from pirates. Rushing to action, the party was able to repel the pirates from an ongoing attack, and continued underboard to fight off the rest of the pirates while Rinan took the Windblade in pursuit of the rest of the fleeing pirates.

The party had a tense encounter with the likes of the Pirate Captain, who held a group of elven civilians hostage. They learned he was deadly serious when he slew a hostage from one of Corkle’s movements.

Frederick challenged the captain on his honor to a duel, playing to the ego of the captain to prove his might. They two squared off, Frederick’s greatsword clashing again and again with the captains cutlass, narrowly avoiding being struck by the captains deadly blows. With his own strength and martial prowess, Frederick was somehow able to best the pirate captain, who surrendered with his men.

Just as the fight was ended and the day saved, the door to the Princesses quarters opened, and the party witnessed a vision. Great Hobgoblin hordes marched from the wild-lands, many human cities and lives fell in their wake, and a great army marched to meet them – an army led by a boy with piercing green eyes.
